I hold over 10 years’ experience of working in different roles within mental health settings, including acute psychiatric wards, community prisons, the charity sector and in private practice.
I am professionally trained, registered and accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Being accredited means I have been recognised by BACP for reaching high standards of knowledge, experience and development in counselling and psychotherapy.
Alongside private practice, I have practiced at Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest on their IAPT service, working with individuals with complex trauma from diverse backgrounds.
I am an experienced group facilitator and regularly facilitate men’s groups. I have also facilitated groups aimed at supporting people to better manage and overcome challenges in relation to anxiety, trauma, anger, and groups working with women who have experienced sexual and domestic violence.
Trauma-Informed Research
Beyond clinical work, I have been involved in numerous research programmes, most recently leading initiatives focused on integrating trauma-informed care into public services such as schools and prisons, and advocating for systemic change to improve mental health support in these settings.
Personal Journey & Therapeutic Philosophy
I became a therapist due to my own experiences of personal therapy; someone helped me once and now I feel very lucky to be in a position where I am able to help others.
I don’t believe in a final destination or reaching a place where we are fully ‘healed’, and instead that this is something that we are working towards throughout a lifetime. With this in mind, I regularly engage in personal therapy, group work and retreats and remain committed to my own personal growth and healing.
When I’m not being a therapist I enjoy connecting with others, being outdoors, walking, cooking and sunshine.
